Seelky (Active Pet)
Seelky are a carnivorous species that are native to the fifth layer. They have a thick layer of blubber that keeps them warm in the harsh environment of layer five. Seelky primarily feed on fish and shellfish, however they will eat just about anything they can find, such as rodents or small birds. Seelky are also close relatives of Kymakorns!
Seelky are one of the most common pet species, and are kept on every layer. Hunters especially commonly own a seelky or two. They have a very strong sense of smell which can be very useful when hunting. Domestic seelky come in a variety of coat color, patterns, and fur lengths.
Lopalope (Active Pet)
Lopalopes are small prey animals that inhabit almost every layer, though they are especially prevalent on layer one. They live in burrows and will typically avoid most other creatures.
Lopalopes are sometimes bred for their horns, as they are used in a variety of potions. They are decently popular as pets or even as familiars. Lopalopes have a deep connection to nature, and are able to cast spells rooted in nature easily.
Golem (Active Pet)
Golems are a manmade monster typically created with earthy materials such as dirt, clay, or stone. They are quite simple to create, only requiring a small amount of magic knowledge and energy. Creating a golem is often one of the first assignments given to young mage apprentices.
They are quite useful creatures, as they are able to do simple tasks without difficulty. Many mages keep several around the house to take care of small household tasks, such as cleaning, doing laundry, or tending plants.
Golems can be any size. Their size depends on the size of the vessel created by the mage creating them. Golems do not need to eat, but they do require a bit of magic to be channeled into them every now and then. The amount of magic needed depends on the size and type of golem. Golems will become inanimate if they go a while without a refill of magic.
Angora Shrimpurr (Active Pet)
A breed of shrimpurr with long soft fur.
They are very popular among girls and the upper class.
Baglin (Active Pet)
These little guys are quite popular among adventurers!
They can store items in themselves like any other normal bag.
Bluebell Chook (Active Pet)
Chooks are little round birds often raised for their eggs and meat.
They are typically docile, however males can have onery streaks.
The most common breed of chook is the Bluebell Chook.
This breed is named for its blue coloration, which it gets from the wild blueberries they love to eat.
Cockatrice Fledgling (Active Pet)
Cockatrices are a type of monster created from chooks. A cockatrice is created when an ophidius parasite enters a chooks body.
The transformation does not happen overnight, rather it occurs over the course of a year.
Soon after being infected, the chooks appetite will increase dramatically. The parasite changes the hosts body drastically, so it takes a lot of it's energy to do so.
Over the course of the year, the chook will begin to grow larger, sprout a serpentine tail, and larger dragonlike wings. It's beak and talons become sharper as well.
The transformation is considered "complete" once the cockatrice's wings have fully grown in and it has reached 4 feet in height.
The cockatrice will continue to grow throghout it's lifetime though, as they can reach heights of up to 8 feet tall.
Cockatrices tend to live for up to 50 years. Unlike chooks, they tend to be entirely carnivorous creatures.
They are more often than not hostile creatures, but with the correct care they may maintain their demeanor from when they were chooks.
This little guy in particular is a newly turned Chook. It is still adapting to the changes in it's body.
Although they still have a long way to go in terms of their transformation, they can still be quite dangerous at this size.
Grifflin Chick (Active Pet)
Grifflins are a large avian species that reside in layers two, three, and five. They are dangerous predators that should be avoided if possible.
They will hunt any creature smaller than themselves.
Grifflins are especially hostile in the spring, which is when their young often hatch. They are extremely protective of their young.
They make their nests in mountain peaks or inside of large trees.
Male Grifflins are commonly more vibrant than the females of the species. This is to attract mates. Grifflins will often bond for life.
Bonded Grifflins are hostile to any creature they do not see as family.
Domestic Grifflins do exist, but they are not recomended as pets as they are very difficult to keep.
They are often kept as mounts moreso than pets.
This grifflin is still young and seems to have wandered out of its nest.
It would be best to be cautious of its beak and claws as, despite its young age, they are still plenty dangerous!
Lotlotl (Active Pet)
A species of salamander frequently found in the underground rivers and lakes of the fourth layer. Lotlotles are capable of regenerating any part of their bodies.
Their tails are widely used in the creation of healing potions.
They are also, however, very popular pets throughout the falls, thanks to their cute appearance.
Noxwyrm Pup (Active Pet)
This little guy may be small, but it should still be handled carefully!
Even at this size, they are still extremely venomous.
They are very skittish and will often run from anything larger than them.
Pastry Sprite (Active Pet)
These small fairies are born from pastries made with love, their appearance is determined by the pastry that they formed from.
The appearance of a pastry sprite is considered to be a good omen by pastry chefs!
Puffern (Active Pet)
These small birds make their homes in the spires of layer two.
They carve out holes within the spires with the horn on their beak, where they then create their nests.
Scrapling Drake (Active Pet)
A species of drake that are most often kept for a... unique reason.
These small creatures have HUGE appetites and aren't picky with food either. They are able to eat just about anything, which is usually a bad thing.
However, with proper training, they can be taught to only eat what they are given, most using this to feed them food scraps, rotten food, or even trash.
But don't be alarmed! Their powerful digestive systems make this completely safe for them to do, as long as they recieve enough of the nutrients they need.
Woodland Nymph (Active Pet)
These small sprites are often thought to be children of the forests.
In their woodland habitats, they are masters of camouflage.
They blend in with the foliage of the forest, or will sometimes bury all but the top of their heads underground.
They are often found tending plants and playing with animals, however, they tend to shy away from Tatsukoi.
Wild nymphs do not trust easily, but with time and patience, some have come to befriend them.
Druids and farmers are the most common sort to seek their assistance.
Nymphs can also be summoned with a certain ritual, the nymph forms a bond with the Tatsukoi similar to that of a familiar.
This ritual, however, is a heavily guarded secret by the druids of the third layer.
