It had been one week since Hilda passed away.
The funeral went about as smoothly as something so grim could go, and wine in the evening still tasted the same.
On her way to work for the first time in a week, Evangeline could not help but fiddle with her whiskers. Her claws grazed the gold-tipped endings in a satisfying way that helped keep her nerves calm. It had long been discussed that after Hilda's death, she'd inherit the springs. The entire building, hers. Paid off long ago. Not a single dime contributed by Evangeline herself; it was a very, very massive gift that could not quite fit into one's pockets.

Evangeline looked down, and couldn't help but be surprised for just a moment. The grass had already grown back so lush within only a few weeks. Small flowers were beginning to bloom, and the sky was entirely clear. She noticed her paws were getting wet from the morning dew. That'd leave some nice footprints on the white flooring. She sighed, but smiled lightly, before continuing on her path.

When the springs finally came into view, her free hand instinctively drew upwards, to her whisker. Gently running her claws down it's sides. And then scraping the gold. And then whisker again, and then gold. Repetitive. Mindless.

She took a breath and grabbed the keys. Evangeline knew, today she would open shop alone.

This was really planned out. And then I hurt my wrist. So, I went very low effort drawing this.
I still like how it turned out I think. Somewhat.
I would have made the background and building more canon-fitting, but running out of time. We can pretend it's less modern.
